Domaine Carle Courty is in Roussillon; the southern most wine region of mainland France.  Located in the foothills of the Pyrenees Mountains, elev. 1800 feet, about 15 miles inland from Perpignan and the Mediterranean Sea; this area produces some of the world most unique wines.  Some believe it is the fast changing weather patterns there that allow  the wonderful flavors of the fruits and herbs growing in this region to be expressed in their wines.

In the morning there could be a warm light sea breeze, and by the afternoon, freezing hurricane force winds coming down from the Pyrenees Mountains. These sudden and drastic weather patterns along with the strong sun of Southern France have a profound effect on the vines and ultimately the wine of this region.  Rosemary and thyme push up between every crevice in this arid land; while cherries and apricots flourish on the neighboring farms.

The farm has Organic Certifications from Agriculture Biologique and ECOCERT .
